Inked

by Zach Trabookis

A story about a man and his struggle to contain his lifelong inner struggles and experiences.

Tattooed man is seen walking through a desolate desert where his life seems bleak at best. He begins to hear voices all around him and he begins to notice his tattoed illustrations moving. A rain storm arrives and washes off the tattooes, as if, the man is released (cleansed) from his cursed past. He struggles to get up and continue his journey forward; the tattooed man doesn't realize it but the cursed tattooes can never be rid of, as we see one formulating on his back as he leaves.

A story about a man and his struggle to contain his lifelong inner struggles and experiences. This could be interesting.

I was caught by this statement because typically we want to let go of our struggles and this statement implies that there is some good that comes from our inner struggles and perhaps they can make us stretch into better individuals. I wanted to know what struggles the man was wanting to “contain” and why and how they impacted his life… What do the struggles reveal about individual transformations.

That said ....when I went on to read the rest to the outline – I lost interest quickly because it was too familiar….Heard it before … cliché. Get rid of “the desert, where life seems bleak”, too obvious. Rain washing away troubles… too obvious. Etc….

Go back to the original statement and draft 5 or 6 different scenarios from that starting point.

I agree with Denise. The desert theme can be contrived and predictable to the point of boredom.

The concept is promising and visually we can go into some new directions...but we need to revisit some of the conflicts that this character goes through.
